Engage Newsletter Summer 2023

Published quarterly, Engage is the official newsletter for North American Division of Seventh-day Adventist Education.

Engage Newsletter July 17, 2023

This issue of Engage focuses on the North American Division Educators’ Convention, beginning August 7 in Phoenix, Arizona.

2023 NAD Educators’ Convention by Arne Nielsen
“This convention’s theme, Something Better, is a reminder that Jesus offers each one of us ‘something better’ than the world has to offer. Ellen White tells us that ‘to honor Christ, to become like Him, to work for Him, is the life’s highest ambition and its greatest joy’ (Education, p. 296). Educators at Convention come to grow, to learn, to network, and to share. The planning of this growth experience has each of you in mind as we seek corporate worship experiences, an introduction to the initiatives of Journey to Excellence 2.0, and opportunities to find those areas of personnel interest that will grow you in your sphere of influence.”

Trauma and the Brain by Evelyn Sullivan
“If you are an early childhood educator or administrator attending the North American Division 2023 Educators’ Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, you won’t want to miss hearing a special presentation on ‘Trauma and Brain Development During the Early Years,’ at our ECE Gathering Appreciating and Promoting (GAP) session during the 100-breakout session on Tuesday morning.  Our presenter, Ingrid Weiss-Slikkers, will talk about how trauma can impact the brain during early childhood development.”
