21st Annual Andrews University Teaching & Learning Conference - starting tomorrow with online options

Events April 10, 2024

Join the 21st Annual Andrews University Teaching & Learning Conference starting tomorrow, April 11. The Andrews University Teaching & Learning Conference serves as an arena where faculty and students from Andrews University, as well as other K–12 schools, colleges, and universities, can come together to focus on the scholarship of teaching and to reflect on research and best practices within the field.

Highlights of the April conference include a Thursday morning keynote in Howard Performing Arts Center by Vimbo Watson. The evening features Vimbo Watson in the Lincoln/Hoosier/Badger Rooms. The day will also include in-person poster presentations in the Howard and afternoon breakout sessions via Zoom and in-person in Bell Hall.

Additional details about the conference can be found online, and attendees can bookmark their breakout sessions (in-person, virtual, and hybrid) in the Zoom Events lobby. They can browse the program by scrolling down the Zoom Events (program) page and note their colleagues featured.

The morning and evening keynotes at the conference will feature Vimbo Watson, a graduate of Andrews University. Watson, M.Ed. K–12 Administration, is the director of Development for Kuda Vana Partnership. This American-based Zimbabwean non-profit operates a children’s home and school in Zimbabwe, her home country. Watson is also a passionate speaker and professional development provider who has spent a decade as an elementary educator. She served as an elementary teacher and then an elementary principal for five years. She has also coordinated and directed multiple mission trips to Zimbabwe, raising funds to provide a borehole well for clean water to a high school in rural western Zimbabwe and much-needed books and school supplies for students there. Her professional development workshops specialize in developing a positive school culture and teaching educators to maintain daily self-care and wellness practices to stay in the profession and not burn out.

This year’s conference is jointly sponsored by the School of Education, the College of Education & International Services, and the Center for Digital Learning & Instructional Technology.
